Start with the actual vacancy
An employer’s name alone cannot tell you whether a particular job is suitable. Save the vacancy link and check its closing date on the employer’s own careers page.
Five useful checks
- Read the duties and essential qualifications carefully.
- Ask the employer for the four-digit occupation code.
- Confirm whether sponsorship is offered for this specific vacancy and your circumstances.
- Check the applicable salary and going-rate requirements for the code.
- For care worker or senior care worker roles in England, check the employer’s CQC registration.
Make your application specific
Use examples from your own work to demonstrate each essential criterion. Separate qualifications you hold from training you are still completing. Keep a record of the employer’s response about sponsorship alongside your application.
The Health and Care Worker route requires an eligible role, an approved employer and the applicable pay requirements. A healthcare job title by itself is not enough.
