YOUR PROFESSION, YOUR NEXT STEP

Research care worker jobs and sponsorship carefully

Understand the in-country restrictions before investing time in a care-worker sponsorship application.

Check the role before the route.

New overseas applications are closed for codes 6135 and 6136. Limited in-country provisions remain. Being in the UK alone is not sufficient; check your current permission and the applicable conditions.

Occupation reference: 6135 or 6136. The employer must confirm the appropriate code for the actual duties.

Compare vacancies before applying

Care jobs with visa sponsorship need careful checking against the actual vacancy and current official guidance. Start with the employer’s own advert, service setting and job duties. Keep a record of the questions you ask and the answers received. A search result or sponsor-register entry is not an offer of sponsorship.

Build your application from real evidence

Use the actual person specification as your checklist. For each essential criterion, give a relevant example and explain your own contribution. Leave out patient names and identifying case details.

  • Genuine care experience and service setting
  • Person-centred support, dignity and safeguarding
  • Completed training and accurate work dates
  • Leadership responsibilities only if actually held

Questions for the recruiting team

  • Which in-country provision would apply to my circumstances?
  • For work in England, does the employer meet the CQC requirement or applicable exception?
  • What is the legal employer, contractual pay and weekly hours?
  • What support, costs and conditions are documented in the offer?

Find an actual vacancy and tailor your evidence

Use official portals and the employer’s own careers page. Sponsorship must be checked for each post. A CV score measures writing readiness; it does not measure clinical competence, registration or immigration eligibility.
